~~ Cockapoo Colors ~~
Look below for cockapoo pictures!
Cockapoos can come in a wide variety of basic or normal colors, as well as blends, mixes and shades of these colors. There are many variations and we will do our best to describe each color or color combination and eventually have a picture of each one! Hopefully, this will help you determine the color you are looking for if you have it in your minds eye but cannot describe it!
BLACK - Solid black. May have some white markings on chin, tummy, bib, paws or nose. These white markings usually consider this puppy a mismark but they are just adorable & very unique.
BLACK & TAN - Considered BLACK PHANTOM in Cockapoos and Poodles. The main color is black. The markings are very similar to the Doberman or the Rotweiller. These Cockapoos have markings under their tails, on four feet, on the sides of the faces and over their eye brows. Some have a "T" or a bar on their chest. The colorof the markings can be tan, brown, rust, silver or cream.
BROWN & TAN - Considered a BROWN PHANTOM in Cockapoos and Poodles. The main color is brown. The markings are very similar to the Doberman or the Rotweiller. These Cockapoos have markings under their tails, on four feet, on the sides of the faces and over their eye brows. Some have a "T" or a bar on their chest. The color of the markings can be tan, brown, rust, silver or cream.
BRINDLE - A coat that exhibits a tiger-striped pattern resulting from layered black hair intermingled in areas of lighter color: ie: lighter color with black stripes. Reverse brindle occurs when the black striping is so heavily concentrated that the lighter background, while clearly still present, is much more subdued, giving the appearance of the coat being black in color with lighter stripes. Brindles have a black muzzle, black eyes and this remains as adults.
WHITE - Very hard to find. Usually appears in 2nd generation. A white cocker spaniel is usually considered to be silver in color and have gray skin.
BUFF - The most common color in Cockapoos and Cocker Spaniels. Buff can vary in shades and blends from light cream to tan to yellow blonde and anything in between.
APRICOT - A common color in Cockapoos and Cocker Spaniels. This is a light cream puppy with orange to red highlights. There are varying degrees of shades of Apricot and it is truly in the eye of the breeder or the buyer as to how deep an apricot color is.
RED - A very unusual and rare color. It is recessive in both the Cocker Spaniel and the Poodle. Can be a light red throughout the entire coat or can be as deep as a mahogany red Irish Setter.
SABLE - This is a dilute of the solid chocolate or solid black gene. If the base color is chocolate brown as a newborn puppy, then the adult coat will come in gold, mixed silver gold or tan in color with the brown tipping on ears, mustache, beard and sometimes on the tail and feet. Usually a darker streak goes down the back. If the base color is black as a newborn puppy, then the adult coat will come in silver, gold or golden tan with black tipping on ears, mustache, beard and sometimes the feet & tail.
CHOCOLATE BROWN - Just as the name says. The color can range from light milk chocolate to deep brown that is almost black.
SILVER BEIGE or CAFE AU LAIT - A chocolate brown Cockapoo who has silver or white hair mixed through the base coat. This color is mainly seen in Poodles however if breeding a silver to a brown there is a possibility of Silver Beige / Cafe Au Lait.
PARTI COLOR - The coat is 50% white and 50% of another color. There are black & white particolors, brown & white, red & white, sable & white, buff & white to name a few.
TRI COLOR - This is a particolor Cockapoo with the markings of another color in places similar to the markings on a Phantom. An example would be a black & white particolor with tan points under tail, on face, feet & chest. This is another very unique combination and very hard to find.
MERLE -
